Tokyo-Mitsui Chemicals and Sumitomo Chemical have decided to dissolve their 50-50 joint venture, Japan Polystyrene Inc. (JPS), and exit the polystyrene (PS) business at the end of September. Mitsui said with the operating environment becoming increasingly constrained, the companies have judged the prospects of achieving stable revenues over the mid to long term extremely difficult.
