Wilton-Sabic UK Petrochemicals has started commissioning its new low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant at Wilton, UK, and "the target is to get the new plant up and running, and polymer out by the end of September," according to a company spokesman. Saudi Basic Industries Corp. (Sabic) acquired the 400,000-t/y LDPE facility, on which Huntsman Corp. had already begun construction, as part of its 2007 acquisition of Huntsman's European base chemicals and polymers business (PCN, 1 Jan 07, p 1). Huntsman earlier referred to the plant as "the world's largest single-stream LDPE facility."
