Rome-LyondellBasell said it has initiated a project that would permanently stop the production of polypropylene (PP) at its 255,000-t/y plant in Terni, Italy. "Demand for PP continues to be affected by global economic conditions and the resulting market environment has made facilities such as Terni no longer economically viable," explained Anton De Vries, senior vice president of olefins and polyolefins for Europe, Asia and international.
