Seoul-LG Chem has announced plans to expand its capacity for neopentyl glycol (NPG) at its Yeosu complex in Korea to 100,000 t/y from a current capacity of 65,000 t/y.LG developed its own NPG production technology in 1998 and in 2004 cited a "breakthrough" that "dramatically" improved that process (PCN, 19 July 04, p 3). At the time, LG was undertaking an expansion to 50,000 t/y from the initial capacity of 30,000 t/y.
