Baotou-Shenhua Baotou Coal Chemical Co. has accepted delivery of "the world's largest operating methanol loop" at Baotou in Inner Mongolia, said technology provider Davy Process Technology, a Johnson Matthey (JM) company.The plant, which has passed its performance test, uses synthesis gas derived from coal to produce 5,500 t/d of methanol. The methanol will be used by Shenhua Baotou for the production of olefins (PCN, 30 Aug 2010, p 1).
