Livingston—Formosa Plastics Corp. U.S.A. said it is continuing to evaluate options for the construction and/or expansion of olefins production capacity at its Point Comfort, Texas, facility. The company was responding to "the recent and recurring appearance of news statements and articles speculating" about its capital investment plans for the site. Those reports said the company was awaiting U.S. government approval to invest $2.1-billion at Point Comfort to increase ethylene capacity by 28% to 2.07-million t/y and propylene capacity by 54% to 1.14-million t/y by late 2014.
