Shandong-GE Energy said it has licensed its gasification technology to Shandong Lihuayi Duowei Chemical Co. for a coal-to-syngas project in China's Shandong Province. The project will use GE's technology to convert local coal into more than 890,000 cu m/d of syngas, which will then be used for the production of chemicals at the site. The plant is scheduled to begin commercial production in late 2010, but no other details were given.
