Paris-LyondellBasell Industries has completed the purchase of the Shell refinery and related infrastructure and businesses at the Berre l'Etang petrochemical complex in France (PCN, 11 Feb 08, p 2). The 105,000-b/d refinery is adjacent to LyondellBasell's Berre polyolefins complex, which includes a steam cracker, butadiene extraction unit, polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene plants. The company also produces PE, propylene oxide, methyl tertiary butyl ether and ethyl tertiary butyl ether at nearby Fos-sur-Mer.
