Karachi-Akzo-Nobel said it has agreed to divest its 75% interest in purified terephthalic acid (PTA) producer Pakistan PTA to Korean firm KP Chemical Corp. for an undisclosed amount. AkzoNobel acquired the interest in Pakistan PTA as part of its 2008 acquisition of IGI. "In spite of good performance and a dedicated team, the PTA activities and its future requirements do not fit with AkzoNobel's strategic priorities," explained Rob Frohn, AkzoNobel board member responsible for specialty chemicals.
