Rafnes-Ineos ChlorVinyls has provided details on its recent force majeure for vinyl chloride monomer (VCM) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) production at certain sites in Europe (PCN, 20 July 09, p 1). "We currently estimate that we can attempt the first restarts of the VCM plant (the) week commencing 3 Aug. 2009," the company said, adding that "we are hoping to resume normal VCM production as early as possible in advance of the planned maintenance shutdown in September."
