Cuddalore-Chemplast Sanmar has completed and started up a new polyvinyl chloride (PVC) plant at Cuddalore, Tamil Nadu, India (PCN 10 July 06, p 1). The Rs 600 crore plant is designed to produce 140,000 t/y of PVC initially, but can be scaled up to a capacity of 170,000 t/y in phases. The project, based on Ineos Vinyls' technology, can produce the full range of PVC grades.
