Englewood-Gevo Inc. last week signed a licensing agreement for Cargill's cellulosic technology which will "further enable" Gevo to produce renewable hydrocarbons from cellulosic crop sources. Under the agreement, Gevo will have exclusive rights to integrate Cargill's microorganisms into Gevo's integrated technology process (Gift) to produce butanols from cellulosic sugars. The sugars are derived from plant materials such as corn stover, switchgrass, forest residues and other sustainable feedstocks.
