摘要

Caracas-Venezuela's National Assembly has approved a new law that gives the government a minimum 50% interest in the country's primary and secondary petrochemical projects (PCN, 8 June 09, p 4). As originally proposed, the new law would have given the government majority control. Angel Rodriguez, head of the energy and mines commission, and sponsor of the law, revised his proposal to the minimum 50% ownership, with the added provision that the state retain control of major decisions, including the appointment of company presidents.
