Beijing-Rosneft and China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC) have established Chinese-Russian Eastern Petrochemical Co. as a new joint venture to build a refinery and produce petrochemicals in Tianjin, China. Based on the feasibility study for the project, the venture will build a 13-million-t/y refinery with light products yield of over 80%, said Rosneft. In addition to motor fuels and liquefied gas, the refinery will produce petrochemicals such as aromatics and polypropylene. The project is expected to be completed in 2015.
