Almaty—China Petroleum & Chemical Corp. (Sinopec) has won a contract for construction of a $1.7-billion polypropylene (PP) plant in Kazakhstan, Bloomberg reported. Kazakhstan Petrochemical Industries (KPI) last year completed the feasibility study for an integrated petrochemical complex at Atyrau, Kazakhstan, that includes an ethane cracker, a propane dehydrogenation unit, a PP plant and two polyethylene (PE) facilities (PCN, 16 Mar 09, p 1).
