Assisi—Cereplast has completed the purchase of a production facility in Assisi, Italy, that will serve as the hub for the company's European production of bioplastics (PCN, 9 May 2011, p 3). Monte De Paschi di Sienna, a leading Italian bank, is providing funding that will cover the majority of the costs related to the purchase and refurbishment of the facility. Cereplast estimates the total cost for the acquisition and refurbishment to be approximately ?12-million.
