Chennai-Chennai Petroleum has decided not to proceed with plans for a polypropylene(PP)plant and will instead begin a feasibility study for a new propylene facility.The company last year announced that it was proceeding with a new 150,000-t/y PP plant at Manali that would require an investment of Rs 1,156 crore(PCN,5 Sept 05,p 1).The decision to drop the project is the result of parent company Indian Oil Corp.'s plans to establish a larger PP plant as part of its new Paradip refinery and petrochemical complex(PCN,3 Apr 06,p 1).
