Rio de Janeiro-Petrobras is completing a new proposal for its Comperj petrochemical complex in Eio de Janeiro, Brazil, and will submit the plan for approval at its next board meeting. Earlier, the company said the project would involve a cracker to produce 1.3-million t/y of ethylene and 900,000 t/y of propylene, and would also include the production of polyethylene, polypropylene, purified terephthalic acid, polyethylene terephthalate, styrene, ethylene glycol and ethylene oxide (PCN, 9Feb 09, p1).
