We present here a single-hole energy spectrum in a three-band model in a mean-held approximation. The model assumes that the only relevant Cu configurations are (d(9)) Cu2+ and (d(10)) Cu+. To obtain the hole band consistent with the recent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study in Sr2CuO2Cl2, it is necessary to account for the direct O-O overlap with a specific choice for the sign of the matrix element. In the absence of a long-range antiferromagnetic order, holes spill over from the (pi/2, pi/2) points into hat valleys along the symmetry lines p(x) = 0(p(y) = 0) of the zone. Shortcomings and advantages of this approach and its relevance to spin-polaron physics are briefly discussed.
