Researchers are questioning the me-thod used to monitor the quality of a scientific journal belonging to the Dutch publishing giant Elsevier after its editor-in-chief was found to be publishing almost all his papers in the journal. Mohamed El Naschie, editor-in-chief of Chaos, Solitons and Fractals (CSF), published 58 papers last year, of which 53 are in the jour-nal itself. Elsevier will announce his retirement from CSF, which had been planned since mid-2007, in the first issue of the journal this year. The company also plans to revamp the journal's submission process.
