摘要

We present an analysis of the temperature dependence of thermal expansivity and isothermal bulk modulus in terms of the Anderson-Gruneisen parameter and the thermal pressure. The analysis is presented for ionic solids viz. NaCl, KCl, MgO and CaO in the temperature range starting from room temperature up to the temperatures close to their melting temperatures. The analysis performed in the present study is based on the thermodynamic and thermoelastic data reported by Anderson. Some empirical relationships are used to extrapolate the data at higher temperatures. The volume thermal expansion data at higher temperatures are explained using the formulations for the thermal pressure. (C) 2002 Elsevier Science B.V. All rights reserved. [References: 15]
