In the present paper within a phenomenological approach a simple expression for the persistent current in a one-dimensional ballistic ring is proposed in view of a geometrical capacity C between a ring and an electron reservoir. It is shown that the current averaged within the grand-canonical ensemble is other than zero and is proportional to C-1 at a large magnitude of the capacity. (C) 1998 Elsevier Science B.V.
