Thin liquid films have properties that can be different from the bulk material. We have stu-died freely suspended films of polyelectrolyte Solutions, that means films with two liquid-air surfaces. We were able to show that the forces between surfaces are oscillatory, revealing stra-tification, i. e. a structuring in layers of thick-ness equal to the polymer network mesh size. The stratification kinetics reveal interesting differences when the surface conditions are changed.
