A new number of the Ba based Bi-2222 cuprate, Bi2Ba2Nd1.6Ce0.4Cu2O10+delta, has been synthesized by a matrix-reaction method under reducing atmosphere. Powder X-ray diffraction and electron diffraction indicate that it is an isotype with Bi2Sr2(Gd, Ce)(2)Cu2O10+y. In addition, electron diffraction suggests a modulated structure along both b-axis and a-axis: q=0.114a*+0.114b*. The as-prepared sample exhibits a semiconducting behavior of variable-range hopping conductance type. [References: 14]
