摘要

A statistical analysis is presented of 300Data Munitions Effectiveness Teams (WDMET) cases where wounds resulted from M26grenades and where it was definitely known whether or not an armor vest was worn. Statistical methods employed are principally chi square tests. Data indicate that (1) an armor vest reduces the proportion of wounds to the thorax versus wounds to other body parts; (2) it is doubtful whether the vest reduces the proportion of men having thorax wounds versus men having wounds only to other body parts;and (3) the Marine vest offers more protection than the Army vest.
