Explorer 35 data on energetic solar particle events show that intensity ratios of H to He (p/alpha) and of He to Z > or = 3 ions (alpha/M) in the sub-MeV specific energy range (epsilon = or > 0.5 MeV/nucleon) vary from event to event and more especially during the time history of individual events.
