The reactions of O,S-diethyl phenylphosphonothioate (DEPPT), (O-ethyl S-2- diisopropylamino)ethyl Methylphosphonothioate (VX), C-13 labeled (Bis-2- dichloroethyl) sulfide (HD*), and C-13 labeled 2-chloroethyl Phenyl sulfide (CEPS*) were characterized on sodium zeolite (NaY) and silver-exchanged zeolite (AgY). The reactions were followed using MAS NMR techniques at room temperature. The VX and DEPPT decomposed on AgY via hydrolysis of the P-S bond. The reactions were faster than on NaY. The VX reacted further on AgY with the cleaved thiol group to form QB, HD*1 and CEPS*, which reacted slowly on AgY to give diethers (products not detected on NaY).
