摘要

To properly evaluate the wind power potential of a site, an accurate and complete data set of preferably several years length are needed. Hourly wind speed and direction data are also preferred so a detailed analysis can be done of the important wind characteristics. However, collecting a complete hourly data set over a one year period is a formidable task. Maintaining and keeping wind sensors operational on an hourly basis are often difficult and as a result data records are often incomplete. Typically, on an annual basis data recovery is from 75 to 90%. The objective of this research is to evaluate the impact of missing data on the estimation of wind power resource statistics. These statistics include the monthly, seasonal, and annual mean wind speed, mean power density, and estimated wind turbine generator (WTG) energy output. (ERA citation 11:047449)
