This self-study guide has been designed to assist owners and operators of board and care homes in their efforts to protect residents from injury due to fire. Since residents of board and care facilities are often disabled by accident, disease, or age, it is particularly important for owners and operators to educate themselves in the basics of fire prevention and life safety. The guide is organized around five units: awareness, fire prevention, evacuation, fire suppression, and planning. Each unit contains one or more chapters which deal with specific topics. The information in the chapters is divided into small sections and following each section are review questions with the correct answers. A summary of important points appear at the end of each chapter and concluding each unit is a series of review questions, the answers to which are in the appendix. Illustrations are included.
