The DOE National Solar Photovoltaic Conversion Program is structured into several interrelated projects which address the major segments of the overall effort. Of these segments the responsibility for conducting the Systems Definition and Concentrator Technology Development Projects is assigned to Sandia Laboratories. The Concentrator Technology Development Project has as its overall goal to develop low-cost reliable photovoltaic concentrator subsystems. The evolution of these collectors depends on determining the positive and negative aspects of developmental collector materials and configurations and feeding this information back into the design process. Therefore,the effectiveness of each collector needs to be evaluated in detail from the viewpoint of efficiency and lifecycle costs. A brief description of Sandia's capabilities and plans for carrying out this testing is presented. (ERA citation 03:054834)
