The primary objective of Battelle's overall research program was to suggest potentially feasible methods to derive fuels economically from sugar crops and corn, to evaluate the potential feasibility of the various suggestions, and to suggest means to convert the potential feasibility into practical implementation. Although the scope of the entire research program included corn, research had been staggered so that reporting on corn will be presented in Volume IV entitled "Corn Agriculture" and Volume V entitled "Comprehensive Evaluation of Corn".
