摘要

The solubilities for 96 elements in typical western U.S. desert ground water were estimated along with the degrees of reliability of the estimate for each element. Because of the many simplifying assumptions needed in this evaluation, the results should be used only for preliminary screening purposes or for demonstrating the utility of the methodology. The major insoluble chemical species were hydroxides (44 elements), carbonates (11 ele¬ments), sulfates (5 elements) and anionic or nonionic forms (19 elements).nComparison of the solubilities of the elements with drinking water limits for chemicals indicates that 23 elements may hot be soluble enough in ground water to reach chemically toxic limits.
