The customary assumption of the neglect of interference or crossed graph terms is investigated within a simple multiperipheral model and found to be completely un justified. The inclusion of these terms, in a multi-Regge model, allows the correct prediction of the ratio of Kp to π p cross sections and of the energy dependences of inelastic cross sections and pion multiplicities. A natural explanation is provided for dramatic structures observed in correlation functions.
