Procedures for determining boron in a variety of materials in which boron is a major constituent are outlined. Samples are dissolved in aqueous sodium peroxide solution, sodium carbonate fusion, dehy¬drated H2SO4-HNO3 or by pyrohydrolysis. Interferences are removed by complexation, precipitation, volatization or ion ex¬change columns, and the boron is deter¬mined by titrating a boro-mannitol complex with sodium hydroxide. Methods of stan¬dardizing the titrant are discussed, and a list of materials analyzed with the prefer¬red treatment procedure is presented.
