Preliminary work with various solubilizing methods and color methods, checked vs. reliable methods in the K.B.S. laboratory, proved that the U shown by the spectrograph was potentially available U. Therefore, the development of a rapid, sensitive and fairly accurate method was in order.nFor the sake of speed in the desired method, the investi¬gation was limited to colorimetry. Of the three most prominent colorimetric methods for U, i.e., sodium diethyldithiocarbamate, hydrogen peroxide and potassium ferrocyanide (Ref. 20), the hydrogen peroxide method proved to be the most useful for the measurement of the U content of solutions resulting from acid extractions of gyp cakes.
