The authors review the nature of the tasks performed by first line maintenance supervisors in three nuclear power plants. They compare these tasks to core supervisory training curriculum, supervisory job descriptions, and both the process related to performance appraisals, and the criteria applied in carrying out these performance evaluations. Recommendations have been made concerning methods of increasing the relevancy of training and improving the performance appraisal process. (author). 5 figs. (Atomindex citation 28:053965)
