The International Forum on Airline Quality (IFAQ) Teaching Guide was created atthe suggestion of the many people who recognized the potential for education inherent to the Forum proceedings. The purpose of the Guide, in addition to its primary function of reporting on the latest trends, debates, and general information, is to introduce students and professionals alike to the tremendous variety of issues regarding airline quality and the people who are at the forefront of innovation and change. The discussion questions at the end of each presentation were developed to assist the student in the clarification of the issues and to encourage thought that extends beyond the theories and arguments provided by the contributing authors. Some questions are deliberately open-ended; the student must thoroughly understand the issue and apply what has been learned in order to formulate an appropriate, reasonable response. The Teaching Guide may thus be used to test retention and comprehension. The Teacher's Edition includes a helpful key that supplies focus and specific examples where concrete answers are required; to this end, the key responses are direct quotations from each particular discourse.
