摘要

Numerical performance of diagonally implicit Runge-Kutta (DIRK) methods applied to stiff initial value problems resulting from finite-difference semidiscretization of nonlinear parabolic equations is studied. The quasi linear parabolic initial boundary value problem in one space dimension is discretized with respect to the space variable. The resulting stiff ordinary differential equation system is solved numerically in the time variable by the DIRK method.
