摘要

Some concepts involved in the formulation of bending finite elements are reviewed. Special reference is made to the development of an isoparametric non-uniform 3D beam finite element for linear static and dynamic analysis. Advantages and problem areas inherent in this particular formulation are investigated. Other bending finite elements are also briefly discussed. Numerical examples and results are presented in order to illustrate important characteristics of the elements discussed.
