The report represents an overview of the planned facility improvements to support the health care mission of the Veterans Administration. As a report that lists facility needs for the period FY 1987 through FY 1991, the development plan depicts the magnitude of the effort required to meet the facility requirements of the VA health care delivery system. The system currently consists of 172 medical centers, 120 nursing homes, 16 domiciliaries and 227 outpatient clinics, including 53 independent and satellite outpatient clinics.
