摘要

A method is described for the determination of metallic iron, which includes all oxygen-free forms of iron. The method was adapted from methods published by the International Organization for Standardization and British Steel Corporation. The metallic iron is dissolved by a bromine-methanol solution, and after the bromine and methanol have been eliminated, the iron is reduced with stannous chloride and titrated with potassium dichromate solution. The relative standard deviation of the method is 0,002 at a metallic-iron concentration of 88 percent, and ten determinations can be carried out in 12 hours.
