摘要

The eight Veterans Administration Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Centers (GRECCs), hosted by VA Medical Centers in the U.S., were established to attract outstanding professionals to teach and conduct basic and clinical research on aging, to provide education in geriatrics, and to experiment with alternative means of providing care to the aged. The GRECC program serves to attract and develop superior staff in the field of gerontology and geriatrics, to utilize and redirect resources for geriatric care, and to advance and integrate research and educational achievement in geriatrics and gerontology into the VA's health care system. The present report is the result of an effort to establish a communications network among GRECC scientists on activities and programs relating to the behavioral and social aspects of aging.
