摘要

In late 1977 the National Advisory Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke Council established the panel on Convulsive and Neuromuscular Disorders for the purpose of developing a report on the state of the art on research in convulsive and neuromuscular disorders and preparing recommendations for additional or new directions for basic and clinical research endeavors. To carry out this charge, the Panel met twice to develop a framework for its report, assigning specific portions of the report to different sub-sets of the Panel. These smaller groups, sometimes with the assistance of colleagues in the field, prepared a number of drafts which were reviewed by both the Panel and the NINCDS program staff. The final report, resulting from this process, focuses on peripheral neuropathies, epilepsy, muscular dystrophies, myasthenia gravis (and other disorders of neuromuscular transmission), neurotoxicology, the brain and defects of movement, transmitters, basic neurological research and neural morphology.
