Noble and Pacific silver fir seed fall declined rapidly as distance from uncut timber at the edge of clearcuts increased. Observations were made at four locations in the Washington and Oregon Cascade Range. There were no differences in dispersal of sound and unsound noble fir seed but unsound Pacific silver fir seed dispersed farther than sound seed. Differences in effectiveness of east and west cutting boundaries in seed dispersal were not consistent.
