摘要

Silicon Killed 0.13%C, 0.05% and 0.09%V steels containing 0.9-1.5% manganese have been rolled to 12mm and 19mm plates from a soaking temperature of 1250C finish rolling at 1000C. The yield strength was increased by 111N/sq mm per 1% Mn via grain refinement, solid solution strengthening and increased precipitation hardening. Increasing the level of manganese also improved the toughness, both the 27and 54JITTs being reduced by 65C per 1% Mn. It has been shown that the strengthening effect of vanadium is around 15N/sq mm per 0.1%V in a 16mm thick, 0.005%N2as rolled steel. Grade 50D of BS 4360can be achieved in the as-rolled condition in section thickness up to 16mm with finish rolling temperatures of 1000C using a 0.15%C, 0.25% Si, 1.55% Mn, 0.06%V, 0.005%N(2) steel.
