XM-50membrane has been successfully spun into hollow fibers and potted in bundles of 100to 4000with silicone rubber. Hollow fibers have been made with flux and rejection properties which are reproducible. Sufficient quantities can be produced to supply the University of Pennsylvania for clinical testing. Preliminary studies conducted with small 4000fiber clinical prototype diafilters were carried out in man. The major advantage of diafiltration over traditional diffusive transport lies in the higher efficiency of removal for solutes of molecular weight greater than 200.
