摘要

The report presents the results of a theoretical study which was conducted to determine the feasibility of an electromagnetic (EM) suspension system for a conceptual 200mph high speed ground transportation vehicle which is suspended from an overhead guideway. The EM suspension provides levitation for the vehicle by use of the magnetic attraction forces between vehicle borne electromagnets and a ferromagnetic plate on the guideway. These electromagnets must be provided with a feedback control system which senses the air gap between the magnet and guideway and regulates the current in the field coil of the electromagnet. A dynamic analysis is presented which results in the synthesis of a linear control system,thus providing the desired stability and dynamic response characteristics of the EM suspension. (Author)
