摘要

The effect of notches on the tensile and fatigue properties at 25℃ and -196℃ of ten aircraft structural alloys was investigated.nGeneral conclusions resulting from the investigation were that decreasing temperature causes increasing strength, both tensile and fatigue, for notched specimens as well as unnotched specimens, except for SAE 4340 steel which decreased slightly in both tensile and fatigue strength for notched specimens.nHardness values increased and impact values, except for aluminum and magnesium alloys and 18-8 steel, decreased with decreasing temperatures.
