摘要

During the 2010 Evaluation Year, the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement, Birmingham Field Office, conducted oversight evaluations of the Louisiana Office of Conservations coal mine regulatory program and abandoned mine land program. The oversight studies focused on the success of Louisiana in meeting the Surface Mining Control and Reclamation Acts goals for environmental protection of land mined for coal. A Performance Agreement was cooperatively developed by Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement and the State to tailor the oversight activities to the unique conditions of the State program. Through oversight activities, the need for financial, technical, and other program assistance to the State is identified and provided to strengthen its program. In support of the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcements national initiatives, studies were conducted in the areas of off-site impacts, reclamation success, customer service and national priority review topics of approximate original contour and state calculation of required bond amounts.
