The goal of this qualitative anthropological study is to describe the socialuniverse and experience of staff in an urban medical rehabilitation institute called The Body Shop. The study documents the complex world of staff as it identifies and explores staff-related cultural factors affecting in-patient medical rehabilitation. By uncovering meanings, values, and beliefs that inform staff work and thus directly or indirectly affect patient care and lives, even after discharge. This study addresses health care issues of staff life that could be used to improve the quality, effectiveness and efficiency of the medical rehabilitation process.
